The First cover that we created featured our pre-designed masthead. However when putting this masthead against the background we found that it was not bold enough and did not stand out against the background- it is important for the reader to know what magazine they are buying. We then backed on the masthead with a replica black logo which allowed it to look overalll more striking and professional. The coverlines were written in the font called 'Indie Summer' and we found that the best colour that would stand out from the background was white.
The right top third looked quite plain so we inserted more coverlines and put a thin lined box around the coverlines as this not only makes the coverlines stand out but makes it trendy and stylish. Having a simple masthead doesn't distract from the image therefore the focus is still on the model from the band.

We experimented with trying to change the colour of the masthead to black and white but we felt that becuase the main colour of the front cover is blue that a blue masthead would be an appropriate colour. The white also clashes with the white in the background making it harder to see. The audience would like a clear and striking masthead.
We tried to make the whole of the front cover in the font 'Indie summer.' I think that this font makes the overall look of the magazine very unique however because the font is quite thin it is difficult to see the masthead especially against the background. The previous masthead would be more effective due to the fact that it is bold and eye catching. I like the composition of the magazine especially how the masthead is centered and the model is poitioned in the centre of the page with coverlines surrouning the edge, but i think that there should be coverlines on the right top third to give a more professional look. The colours on this front page are all very complimnetry of one another. Blue colours appeal to both men and women therefore draw in a wide audience.
